Here’s the skinny: Kyotofu is a whimsical Japanese dessert bar in Hell’s Kitchen that’s been filling its modern Japanese desserts with artisanal tofu since 2006. What does tofu have to do with dessert, you ask? Good question. Inspired by Kyoto tofu artisans, Kyotofu takes the soybean to the next level.
Sip sparkling sake infused with rosehip and hibiscus while devouring their matcha tofu cheesecake. Polish off a pomegranate mojito, then let their Miso Valrhona Chocolate Cake excite your taste buds. Did we mention that they’re New York Magazine’s reigning champs for “NYC’s Best Cupcake”?
No sweet tooth? No worries. Settle into their cozy dining room, equated by New York magazine to a “professionally wrapped present”, and dig into their delectable small plates and entrees: “Pigs in a Duvet”, Sake-infused Mac & Cheese with truffle pate, Chicken & Tofu Sliders…to name a few
Kyotofu also offers private events, offsite catering, corporate gifts, custom gift assortments, and bridal and wedding cakes and favors. They ship many of their products nationwide - www.shopkyotofu.com.
Kyotofu is a modern Japanese dining and dessert destination – you have to try it to believe it. They’re “changing the world, one soybean at a time”. Itadakimasu!
Chocolate Souffle Cupcake
Warm Chestnut and Fig Mochi Chocolate Cake—Pomegranate-yuzu sauce, red wine poached fresh figs, cocoa nib tuile
Warm Roasted Asian Pear Cake—Genmai brown rice cream, saffron caramel, soba-cha crisps
Artisinal Tofu Salad—Fresh house-made tofu, avocado, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, yuzu miso dressing
Black Sesame Sweet Tofu—Hoji-cha roasted green tea syrup, white sesame tuile, gogi berry
Chicken Tsukune Tofu Sliders—Teriyaki grilled with shiso and cucumber
I ordered Chasoba noodle with side salad, and shiso rice balls. I found a bug in the noodle soup, and chunk of a plastic bag in the noodle. They didn't even give me chopsticks (it's unbelievable for a Japanese restaurant). Also, the portion was really small for the price. Won't order again.

The deserts are amazing. I feel like a lot of people who don't get japanese deserts may have something a little underrated to say. I'm sure that's how they feel about american deserts over in Japan. Kyotofu is amazing with great service. I ordered on Seamless today and in the notes, just let them knew about a little issue I had in the past and they gave me a nice surprise w/ a friendly note! I appreciate it! ( ^___^)

Their raspberry no bake cheesecake is delicious however their non-dessert items are not impressive. Considering it's known more as a dessert place, I guess it's not surprising that the dessert was the highlight. I would probably order dessert from Kyotofu again but would be hesitant to order my main meal from them again.

The food came very late - about 1hr25min. Our meat was cold and the dessert was melted. Very disappointed, especially because our place is 7 streets away from Kyotofu. Not ordering delivery from Kyotofu ever again!

Very good.

This place thinks it's better than it is. It isn't. Overpriced and underwhelming. Wouldn't recommend.

meh... don't get the rice balls... they are literally just a ball of rice. doesn't taste like anything spectacular. mac & cheese was all right, the best thing I ordered, but mediocre. pigs in a duvet are a clever name and that's about it. not worth the 8 bucks. you get 5 bite-size PIBs with some sesame seeds on top.

Delicious all around. Mac and cheese is awesome as are chicken and tofu burgers!

Chocolate cake was better than my entree. Recommend sweet over savory from this place.

The food is nice but the delivery isn't. The delivery person will call to say he is downstairs when he is still on the way. The restaurant doesn't seem overly concerned about this.

Good food but terrible delivery

We've ordered a several times. Food is consistently mediocre and service is always SLOW. It's also too expensive for what you get. They think they're better than they are. Avoid.

Don't eat here if you're starving. Eat here when you want gourmet food and mini portions that satisfy the palate over your gut. Food quality was good and leaned on strong flavors. The deserts are fabulous. They forgot to deliver one for me and sent the delivery guy back ASAP with extra goodies! Thanks!

This place is a terrible value. The portions are miniscule, even for the "(dinner)" dishes. My mushroom salad had 5 sprigs of arugala, 3 straw mushrooms and 1 shaving of cheese. I would not order from here again.

Really excellent, rich desserts. Macaroons are to die for. Chicken and tofu sliders are also delicious.

Truly delightful desserts and more -- a foodie's delight. Though obviously smaller portioned than your local burrito haven, you pay for (and get) quality. Their savory items are great as well -- I love their soy-tofu and mushroom quiche, for instance
